Winter Break

During my winter break, I spent Christmas and New Year’s with my grandparents in Los Angeles. In the first week, I was helping them unload their new sound system when, due to their steep driveway, I twisted my ankle while retrieving a speaker from the trunk. Despite that, the holiday gatherings were quite enjoyable, we all shared good food and company. We had ceviche, grilled chicken, and meat and salad at the family party, plus the festive atmosphere was heightened by my grandma and her sisters dancing to Ecuadorian cumbia. When we weren’t at the house, I was practicing my driving skills in the midst of the LA traffic as we hit several shopping centers to take advantage of the holiday deals, my favorites were the Glendale Galleria, Topanga Mall, and Century City Mall. On January 1st, my family—along with my dog—traveled to San Luis Obispo. As we drove along the coast, I was surrounded by nature with the sea on the left and mountainscapes. We enjoyed a long hike and witnessed a beautiful waterfall, and my sister and I had fun climbing rocks. The following day, we went ziplining in San Ynez, making for an adventurous start to the new year.
